Sinopec ZRCC starts construction of 800kta MEG plant

On March 28, 2020, the project of Sinopec Zhenhai Base (Phase I) officially broke ground on the 800kt/year ethylene glycol plant.

The 800kt/year ethylene glycol unit is one of the chemical plants in Sinopec Zhenhai base (phase I) 15 million mt/year 1.2 million mt/year ethylene project (ethylene part).

This project is to build a new EO/EG unit, including production equipment and auxiliary facilities, which is mainly composed of EO/EG unit and EO storage and transportation system.

The unit adopts the SHELL MASTER EO/EG process package provided by Shell, and the process technology is ethylene oxidation to produce ethylene oxide.

According to the construction progress of the project: the site construction started on March 28, 2020, and the installation will be completed and handed over on December 28, 2021.

Sinopec Ningbo Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Co., Ltd. invested 50 billion yuan to expand 15 million mt/year refining 1.2 million mt/year ethylene project, including 1.2 million mt/year ethylene, 800 kt/year MEG, 360/800 kt/year propylene oxide/styrene (PO/SM) and other 11 sets of process production units; and about 60 sub-projects such as transportation, storage and transportation, water supply and drainage, heating, power supply, telecommunications, environmental protection, production management and other supporting utilities, auxiliary works, etc.
